Coherent Acquires Nuvonyx, Inc. For Undisclosed Sum

SANTA CLARA, CA -- Coherent, Inc. (Nasdaq: COHR) announced the acquisition of privately-held Nuvonyx Inc. of Saint Louis, MO.

Nuvonyx makes high power industrial laser systems, components and arrays for materials processing and defense applications. 

John Ambroso, CEO of Coherent, said, "The addition of Nuvonyx marks Coherent's entry into the high-power materials processing market, an area with potential for significant long-term growth."  Coherent already has product lines for lower-power lasers, components and arrays.
